It is with deep grief and undying regret that the management, faculty, staff, undergraduates, graduate students and alumni of the School of Domestic and International Economy of Tourism share with you the news of the death of Dr. Ion Smedescu, Founding President and Rector of the Romanian American University.

Professor Ion Smedescu was a strategist par excellence, a leading figure of academic education and research, a true mentor for the thousands of graduates, faculty and all those who knew him.

Mister President, we will always cherish you in our memory as a bright figure, an embodiment of professionalism, a dedicated role model and a winner. We love you and will never forget you.
