Hospitality International Summer School 2018 - the flavour of food tourism

Between July 23rd and July 29th, 2018, students of the schools of tourism and hospitality from the Romanian-American University (Bucharest), Babes-Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca), Stefan cel Mare University (Suceava) and Lucian Blaga University (Sibiu) have had a new beautiful experience, marked by their participation at the VIth edition of the Hospitality International Summer School (the first summer school in the hospitality industry field in Romania).
A unique experience through the content of the presented information, the practical aspects and the novelties in the field, with the involvement of practitioners in the tourism industry.

Already a tradition, Hospitality International Summer School 2018 meant, however, even this time, a new story, shaped around an extremely contemporary theme - "Incursion in the Romanian hospitality and gastronomy". The trip started in Bucharest, at important hotels, which showed us what gastronomy means in the context of the extremely high standards of each hotel chain and shared with us the secrets of successful restaurants. Moreover, we found out how things look like behind the "curtain" and how much effort a simple meal downtown involves. The journey continued in a special place, a place that, at least for the moment, represents an important promoter of the Romanian gastronomy in Europe, but also around the world - Sibiu, designated as the European Gastronomy Region 2019. A new incredible and … delicious experience! We learned, we walked, we had fun at the cooking contest. We met beautiful people, we dreamed, we saw, we felt, we lived ... So many flavours, but also emotions ...

We thank all professionals in the hospitality industry (JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel, Sheraton Bucharest Hotel & Benihana Restaurant, Crowne Plaza Bucharest, Golden Tulip Ana Tower Sibiu Hotel, Maria Theresa Manor) for their participation and involvement, as they managed to pass us in a relatively short while a part of their experience, extremely relevant to our future career formation.

All these wonderful things are due to the dedication and involvement of those who contributed to the organization of Hospitality International Summer School: PhD Professor Daniela Firoiu (RAU), PhD Professor Smaranda Cosma (UBB), PhD Professor Carmen Nastase (USV), PhD Lecturer Cosmin Tileaga (ULBS) and PhD Student Adina Gabriela Croitoru (RAU graduate).

We also thank the institutional management of the four universities for making it possible to write a new chapter of the beautiful story of Hospitality International Summer School.
